Class Tonight

Date: March 13th. 2009

Time: 12.20am

Location: Home - Queens-NY

Tonight my Speech275 class was very interesting and a little different from the first night; it was not the typical walk to the front and give your speech for the allotted time, even though this was part of it we had a turn of events when some of the student tried to leave for personal reasons while class and speeches were in session. I personally believe that this was a bit disruptive to the speaker and as a person paying attention it bothered me but then again this is my personal opinion. Voices were raised when the professor told the class that all who did commit this act would need to go back to the front and speak again, none of the victims were pleased about this and we had a bit of an uncomfortable situation where one of the student got thrown out of class as a result. This I thought was very unfortunate and could have been handled different with cooler heads. In future I would like to see some sought of rules implemented so that students would know what their limit is while class is in session. You see other classes would permit such behavior and unconsciously people would do things that might not be tolerated by other professors as is the case tonight. I am not taking sides and if you were to ask me I would definitely side with the professor because we as a class need to support each other and pay attention when someone is speaking because we would want the same attention when we are peaking. At the same I would say again that we are all adults and I believe that the whole confrontation could have been avoided. Maybe I am wrong.
